A Proofread Sample Of A Dissertation Prospectus

A dissertation prospectus is a detailed plan of what is going to be in your dissertation.  This includes what you dissertation will be on and how you are going to approach the subject.  Before you submit something as important as this is, you want to make sure that it is proofread.  By now this should be second nature to make sure you work is free of errors but you would be surprised at how many students leave out this important part of their paper.

Parts Of Your Dissertation Prospectus

  • Title Page:  This is where you put your title, name, school’s name, and your major.  This is centered on the page.
  • Title: At the beginning of the next page you will put prospectus: and then the title of your work.
  • Problem Statement:  Right under that is where you will put your problem statement.
  • Significance:  After you’re done writing the problem statement, you want to start a new page and write the significance of the research.
  • Framework:  This is the part where you state what work you will be working off of in your research.
  • Research Question:  State your research questions that you will be working on.
  • Nature Of The Study:  This is where you go into why you want to do this study.
  • Possible Types and Sources Of Information or Data:  Here you will list possible sources you will use to get your information.
  • Reference:  List you references in APA, MLA, or whatever kind of academic writing format that is required.

Using Samples

When you are going to proofread your work it can be easy to have examples of other works to help you in the process.  Having samples of proofread work can also show you what not to do on your prospectus.

  • Use Google to find examples of dissertation prospectus proofreading.  This will give you thousands of results, so you will have to narrow down which ones are right.
  • When using the Internet look for college and university examples.  These examples will have a better chance of being accurate.
  • Ask your advisor or professor for examples from past students.  If you are given examples from students that have already written what you are about to write, you can see what yours should look like and this is an easy way to do it right the first time.

These are all good starts when looking for samples.  If you still can’t find well-written ones, then I would ask your professor or librarian to help you.
